About Myself

A long time ago, one of my professors at the university recommended a book: “Surreal Numbers”, by computer science legend Donald E. Knuth. I think it’s the only fiction he ever wrote, and of course I was interested. I was put on the waiting list at the library, because now everybody wanted to read it. Although my English wasn’t so good back then, and the math in the book was really complicated, I’ll never forget one thing: The story is about two people, a woman and a man, working together on a mathematical problem, at the same time challenging and supporting each other, and together exploring a realm of truth and beauty, untouchable by opinions and propaganda. Perhaps Knuth was inspired by the lives of Albert Einstein and Marie Curie, who actually had such relationships.

This is the life I wanted for myself, but never found. Today science more and more degenerates to pseudoscience, i.e. philosophy, pseudoreligion and propaganda. About 100 years ago, Einstein and Curie were media stars; the public celebrated each of their discoveries. Today the media stars are pseudoscientists; the truth is now decided by vote, as we can hear every day: “Most leading experts today agree that...”. (Einstein’s theories didn’t need a majority; nature confirmed them!) The most appalling example for this development is the climate ideology, the only scientific basis of which is a theory developed not by meteorologists but by chemists, who were not aware of the complexity of the atmosphere. According to this from the beginning rather shaky theory, which is now treated like a religious dogma, global temperatures depend on the carbon dioxide level of the air. As soon as, after a period of global cooling, a slight warming was registered, the theory was fed to the public by means of propaganda, i.e. by constant repeating. As a result, all pseudoscientific hell broke loose: Politicians, actors, pop singers, planet savers and members of all sorts of cults now all of a sudden had something to say about the future of Earth’s atmosphere, one of the most complex systems known to us. People on the street who had never learned anything about the physics of the atmosphere, began discussing the climate change, quoting “experts” who had never learned anything either. Today, believing or disbelieving in global warming is like being a Catholic or a Protestant. Although in the meantime the actual warming has given way to another cooling, and thus the theory is proven false by nature itself, the warming church remains, and will remain until well into the next ice age. The last warming priests will preach their wisdom to the endless ice desert, until their dying breath. Soon we could even have climate wars in which warming-believing countries bomb the CO2-emitting plants of non-believing countries. This would be exactly the same as the medieval crusades, or other religious wars.

So what happened to the pure, crystal clear world of “Surreal Numbers”, to the world of Einstein and Curie? Are there still real scientists, searching for real truth, trying to build a future for humankind by learning to better understand the laws of the universe? Are they just hiding in catacombs like the early Christians, ready to come out if and when the pseudoscientific noise subsides? – Since I’m familiar with the physics of the atmosphere, I decided to contribute to the reduction of the noise, by exposing on this website the warming theory as what it is: pure pseudoscientific propaganda, well-meant by some, but eventually dangerous to all of us, because it inevitably leads to nuclear power, and thus to nuclear devastation. (By the way, this wouldn’t be the first time that pseudoscience kills millions of people: Adolf Hitler based his “Reich” on the pseudoscientific theory that one race is biologically superior to the others. Back then “leading experts”, not only in Germany, supported this theory.)

We achieved so much over the past decades; we now have technologies Einstein and Curie could never even dream of. The internet allows us to make friends all over the world, and so make John Lennon’s dream come true: “A brotherhood of man” (“Imagine”). We should be able to face the new challenge: learning how to tell real science (which gave us, among other things, the internet) from pseudoscience. To help with this, I describe on this website some criteria, using as an example Galileo, the classical victim of pseudoscientists who – like today’s climate ideologues – placed dogma and preconceived convictions above real facts and real science. The new rise of pseudoscience (not only the climate ideology, but also, e.g., creationism) is a regression to pre-Galilean times, i.e. the Middle Ages.
